Homestar's objective is to provide the client with not only a thorough examination of what may very well be their largest single investment in a clear and easy-to-understand format, but also to deliver an introductory education on operating and maintaining major systems and associated components that come with home ownership. What to Expect Homestar adheres to the "Standards of Practice" published by the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). ASHI is considered to be the governing authority on a national level when it comes to professional home inspections and Homestar is proud to be a member of the ASHI organization. Fully aware that the quality continuum of home inspection firms vary considerably in the tri-state area, and that the home inspection process itself can have a considerable impact on the transaction, Homestar has dedicated a significant amount of time in researching and developing the best way to convey vital information to both the client and realtor in a positive and reassuring manner. We have found that the combination of solid oral skills in a clear, concise, and informative report can accomplish just that. Homestar utilizes HomeGauge software as a reporting system. This state of the art, electronic package incorporates digital color photographs and is delivered the same day of the Inspection. All reports are custom narrated for each individual home. There are no "cloned", boilerplate", or "canned" comments. Upon request, Homestar Inspectors can also provide summary reports to agents for ease in completing sales addendums. Inspection Times
Special Note to Agents Inspections are completed with on-site reporting, valve identification tags, and all inspectors are trained to perform a "departure inspection" to ensure that the property is in the same condition as it was upon arrival. Our environmental concern subcontractors have full lockbox access to alleviate the need for unnecessary return trips to the property should radon, lead paint, asbestos, or mold concerns arise. The inspector will: traverse roofs, attics, and crawl spaces, open electrical distribution panels, check furnace heat exchangers and heat pump elements, check for visual evidence of toxic substances, operate installed appliances and equipment, and report visual evidence of basement/crawl space water problems.
